Poynton and Worth were part of the very large Parish of Prestbury with its ancient mother church from where, under the Tudor arrangements, the highways and care of the poor was organized. Later in the nineteenth century the Macclesfield Union took over the poor law administration and various Local Boards began to provide modern local government. Our Archive We are currently developing an archive of local history resource that is available to view at Prestbury Library.
